We don't rate this road... but it is noteworthy. We've gotten ourselves into trouble, going up Las Flores Canyon Rd.

We commonly use this road going from the Stunt/Schueren/Piuma/Mulholland loop to access the coast, so we can then do the Latigo Canyon hillclimb. Or, using the Chevron Station (PCH & Sunset) as a rally rendezvous, we typically take the short drive directly up Las Flores to Saddle Peak. From sea level, Las Flores Canyon Rd rises so dramatically, to over 2,000 ft. that, during winter and spring months, it's not uncommon for cockpit impounded sea level humidity we carry up the hill with us to rapidly condense upon our windshields... no warning: just like that, in a mere second or two, suddenly driving blind (!). We had a couple near misses a few years ago, when this happened, going hammer and tongs, up slope, on a midnight rally. Doing Las Flores as a hill climb during these months, be sure to recirculate cockpit air via your climate control; do not vent your cockpit by importing air.

Going down Las Flores Canyon isn't so bad on brakes for sports cars, but only because it's a short drive. Lesser cars (e.g., overweight) do get their drivers in trouble going southbound on this road, though. We prefer the Tuna Canyon downhill.

Historically, we typically used Rambla Pacifica, in tandem with the Piuma-Mulholland loop. Rambla Pacifico use to be terrific fun, until an earth slide washed out a big chunk of it at its southern terminus... Rambla Pacifico has yet to be restored, to it's former glory. We suspect the residents here are quite content to leaving it disjointed, from Pacific Coast Highway.
